Kinja'd!!!

The car is fueled, washed, and ready to be packed for my trip to Tennessee where I’ll be !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I’ll leave Colorado on Saturday shortly after midnight for a 1,300-mile drive across some very boring terrain . I’ve done this drive twice before in my Mazdaspeed6, but I haven’t taken the Miata on an interstate roadtrip since I bought the Speed 6 in   2017 .

I’m taking three weeks of vacation from work (and boy do I need that lol) , but I’m hoping to have the swap done in a week and a half or so. My original plan was to take some time to visit friends and family along the route back home, but with the pandemic that doesn’t seem like the best idea. So I may end up coming back to CO early and taking the car to the small local track to get to grips with the new setup before competing in my new class at autocross.

Needless to say, it seems this week has been going by very slowly . How is it only Wednesday?! I’ll likely post updates on the build here on Oppo, but definitely follow me on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for more frequent updates (also my neat mostly car photography ).

If you change your mind and go with a 3-rotor instead I’ll chip in towards your first set of ap ex seals.

Best wishes for a quick and painless swap. I look forward to the follow up review.

Do you not have to deal with emissions where you are? Wish my state was more understanding about logical engine swaps with newer and more efficient engines.

Extremely tempting!!

Colorado does have emissions testing, but their engine swap  regulations are actually pretty reasonable: the engine you’re swapping in has to be newer than the engine it’s replacing. And it still has to pass the normal emissions requirements for the car it was originally in. So my K24A2 will be tested against 2007 Acura TSX standards. I’ll have an EPA-approved GESI catalytic converter, so fingers crossed I won’t have any trouble when it comes time to test.

3 rotors are getting harder to find, unfortunately.

Does that mean you need to retain all of the k24 ecu controlled emissions like evap control etc?

I am excite for you!
keep us updated.

and let me know if you need a hand, happy to stroll by (with my mask on) to help swing a motor in, or whatever part needs an extra hand or two.

Technically yes, but from what I hear it really depends on who ends up inspecting the car. We’ll see how it goes.

Alright ill be the one to ask and I’m not trying to be an ass but why not   an S2k? You may have already said it but y ou mentioned redline in a swap vs an LS and an f20c, 9k from the factory is pretty high up there

That green is super clean though.

An S2000 weighs 2,800+ lbs. My Miata weighs 2,224 lbs right now, and it’s only going to get lighter. Consumable Miata parts are cheaper and the platform is supported very well.

Thanks, I love the Emerald Mica paint! :)

Just move up to Estes Park and you won’t need to worry about emissions  :p.

Sounds like quite the project. Have fun and hope it goes as well as can be expected!

I’ m envious. In Georgia, they just plug it into the computer and it says: “He y, this isn’t a 2007 Acura, it’s a 2005 Lotus.” And then you fail

I don’t think I want to google “Estes Park real estate prices.” But it’s certainly tempting!
